This is my first attempt at a 'real' technology-related blog, so please, bear with me.
I dont have too much time right now, but I would like to share some thoughts. First of all, I have written a paper on how to write linux x86_64 and x86 shellcode, which I will include in a separate post.
Secondly, with all the news lately about AnonOps and lulzSec I wonder what it would would take to bring together nation-state hacking groups. So, if it turns out that X country hacked Y country (hacked in the sense of, revealed state secrets that could weaken the country or cause physical or monetary damage), would the hackers of Y country band together and retaliate against X country? How much loyalty does a hacker have for their country? I suppose it would differ from one to another, but I find the thought interesting. Would governments call out for their own country's hackers to help defend them? "Citizen warriors?" Doubtful; I dont think the governments would have enough control to be comfortable with the idea of turning their citizens lose on another country. Besides, who would be responsible for their actions? Individuals? Countries?
I believe this further begs the question, what would happen if a rogue group went off on their own and hacked another country? So far it seems that they would be held responsible as individuals, and also that their own country would go after them, if only to save face in front of the other nations.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings for now.
